Is your vote up to date?

East Renfrewshire households will soon have to check that the information that applies to them on the electoral register is correct.

As part of Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board’s annual voter registration canvass, local people will receive a form asking them if everything is up to date. The form will also help identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

This is to ensure that when the Scottish Parliamentary election takes place, local people will easily be able to take part.

Alasdair MacTaggart, Electoral Registration Officer at Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board said: “Anyone that wants to vote must be registered. To make sure you are able to have your say at the elections next year, simply check the form when it arrives and return it as promptly as possible.

“If you’re not currently registered, we’ll send you information explaining how to do this or you can just go online to apply to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

“It’s particularly important that anyone who has moved address recently looks out for the form and checks whether they are registered.”

Any residents who have any questions can contact the elections registration helpline on 0300 300 0150.
