It’s a wonderful family life

East Dunbartonshire has been rated the top area in Scotland for family life in the annual UK-wide survey by the Family and Childcare Trust.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie welcomed the news, saying: “We pride ourselves on the high quality services we deliver to our residents. To be recognised and highlighted in a national survey that specifically looks at service provision such as social care, early years, schools, and leisure and culture services is testament to the efforts of all our hardworking employees in these areas.”

The Family and Childcare Trust produce their Annual Report Card in conjunction with the YouGov polling organisation and in addition to surveying parents.

Councillor Geekie added: “Our schools have an excellent reputation with pupils consistently achieving great results.

“We have been award finalists for our positive destinations work with young people and as a Council we are committed to supporting employment locally – leading by example with our early career Grad + and Modern Apprenticeship Programmes.

“It is encouraging to get national recognition for the services we provide, particularly in such financially challenging times and given that the report is made up of both formally reported statistics and data as well as parental views through the survey.”

Publication of the Family Report Card, analysing how family friendly the UK is, coincides with family friendly week and full details can be found on the Family and Childcare Trust Website http://www.familyandchildcaretrust.org.
