The BIG Picnic will be hosted on Sunday, July 19 from 12pm-4pm in the beautiful Robert Owen’s Garden at New Lanark World Heritage Site.

There will be lots of family entertainment in the garden including a Teddy Bear’s Picnic trail, face painting, balloon modelling, storytelling, birds of prey and more.

Entry to the BIG Picnic is free, and all day kids under 12 get free entry to the New Lanark Visitor Centre.

“The BIG Picnic is a great day out for the whole family!

“Lots of people seem really excited about it already on the Facebook event, and we’ll be joined by Clyde 1 on the day so the atmosphere is going to be buzzing!” said Evelyn Whitelaw, New Lanark Events and Exhibitions Officer.

Visitors to the BIG Picnic will also have the perfect opportunity to explore the brand new Clearburn Natural Picnic and Play Area, which is nestled close to the entrance of the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve.

During their picnic visitors can also try some New Lanark Ice Cream, which last month won the award as Overall Champion Ice Cream at the Royal Highland Show 2015.

And don’t worry if the weather is wet, the BIG Picnic will still go ahead with the free activities moving indoors to the “old gift shop” on the ground floor of Mill 2.

After the BIG Picnic, New Lanark’s Summer of Fun is rounded off with a mad-cap performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the HandleBards on Saturday August 15.

New Lanark is an ideal location for a family visit, not just over the over the summer months, but all year round.
