Nine-year-old Keira decided to get her locks chopped off after watching a feature on ITV show Good Morning Britain about children living with cancer.

As a result she decided her hair was for the chop and her locks would go to The Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Keira said: “I saw a person on TV who was cutting their hair off for charity and I thought it was a good idea.

“So I told my mum that I wanted to do it.

“I’d been asking to do it for about two weeks before my mum said it was okay.

“My friends at school said that it was a good idea. My teacher, Mrs Allan, was pleased as well.

“My hair is a bit different now that it’s all cut but I quite like that it’s a bit shorter; I think I will keep it short for a wee while.”
