Residents in Gartcosh have been complaining about a foul odour coming from drains in the village over the last couple of years, but repeated attempts to sort the situation have failed.

The problem stems from the pumping station at the Redrow housing development. Scottish Water recently adopted the pumping station.

Strathkelvin councillor Frances McGlinchey is calling for it to be resolved.

She said: “This has been ongoing for many years, long before I was elected in 2007 and still the smell periodically is obnoxious.

“The big worry for the community is there is going to be more houses in the area, bringing more sewage. If we can’t get the sewage and drainage right just now, it does not look well for the future.”
