Kids enjoy a good kick-about

Children have been getting fit and having great fun while learning football skills during the summer holiday at the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden.

This football session (pictured) was part of (EDLC) East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trusts’s programme of summer sports activities for children.

It was part of the Scottish FA programme which included mini kickers, goalkeeping skills and a half day camp for girls.

The emphasis in these sessions is always on fun and development in a safe environment, with something to suit everyone.

The programme also included a series of week-long camps which focused on specific disciplines that featured in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games as well as taster pre-school sessions of things such as gymnastics , rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining.

Children could also develop their swimming skills including an introduction to synchronised swimming and the chance to get a national pool lifeguard qualification.

Youngsters also had the chance to enjoy pool inflatables sessions, athletics, hockey, judo, aquatics, table tennis, netball, table tennis, netball, tennis, handball and Rugby 7’s.

There will also be a week long camp at the Allander Leisure Centre for badminton - beginners and intermediate players P1 to P7 from July 25 to 29.

A week long camp will also be running at the Allander for athletics from July 25 to 29 and August 1 to 5.

This will look at all aspects of running, jumping and throwing.

Beginners can also learn to ski, snowboard and enjoy snow tubing at Bearsden Ski Club until August 12.
