Kids keep on karting in top competition

Williamwood high school pupils Christopher Moffatt, Cameron Maxwell and Ross Tuton, all S3, secured their place in the British Schools Karting Championship (BSKC) regional final, beating hard-fought competition from other school and college team at Cambuslang Indoor Karting Centre in March 2015.

Mrs Raeburn, depute head teacher, praised their achievement, saying: “I am delighted for the boys and look forward to seeing them represent the school!”

The BSKC is a nationwide team-based karting championship open to any school or college with students aged from 13 to 18. Schools can enter multiple teams of three. Students do not need any previous karting experience or any special equipment to take part in the team sport.

The boys said of this massive achievement: “We are thrilled to have been successful in gaining a place in the Scottish regional final and look forward to representing our school”.

Nicola Bush, championship manager at the BSKC said: “Congratulations to the drivers from Williamwood high school on their success.

She added: “They showed great skill to beat the other teams and make it to the Scottish regional final.

“The BSKC offers young people a structured route into motor sport and karting is a great way for them to gain confidence and learn many of the skills that will help them both in school and in other areas of their life.”
