It boasts “first class” early learning and childcare facilities and features bright, open plan playrooms with direct access to outdoor learning spaces, a kitchen and dedicated family and dining area.

The centre will be open 50 weeks of the year, providing parents with access to child care during holiday periods.

Councillor Green said: “It’s fantastic to hear first-hand from youngsters who attend the nursery and their families about how they are benefiting from the high quality early learning and childcare here.

“This spacious facility enables quality learning indoors and outdoors and is affording more opportunities for families to engage in the life of the centre.

“The investment in this new centre is part of a £77 million commitment to improving the education estate in East Renfrewshire over the next three years.”

Parents across Scotland currently gain 600 hours of free childcare at local authority run early years establishments, but this will rise to 1,140 hours per year by 2020.

East Ren Council says it’s working to put in place the additional infrastructure and staffing necessary to meet this requirement.
