Knifeman robs Viewpark hotel

Two female members of staff were robbed at knifepoint in Capos, Viewpark, on Saturday morning.

Around 11am a man approached a staff member within the car park of the guest house and restaurant and threatened her with a knife.

He led her into the building where he also threatened another female member of staff and demanded money from the till.

The suspect then ran out with a small amount of cash and an iPhone leaving the two staff members, aged 55 and 31, uninjured but extremely distressed.

The thief was last seen running in Old Edinburgh Road in the direction of Bellziehill Roundabout.

He is described as 5’9”-6” tall, wearing dark jogging bottoms, a dark hooded top and a dark baseball cap, and carrying a dark rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Diane Barr from Wishaw CID said: “Officers from Wishaw CID have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and studying CCTV in an effort to gather more information on the robbery and the man responsible.

“So far we have established that the man was running at speed along Old Edinburgh Road at a time when the road was busy with traffic so it is possible a motorist or a member of the public may remember seeing him.

“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to contact Wishaw CID through 101 number.

“Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.

“It is critical we trace the man responsible, any information you have, no matter how small, could make a real difference.”
