Lanark man dies after road accident

A Lanark businessman and craftsman, Mr John Allan, died of his injuries following a road accident at the weekend.

He was 51 years old.

He was travelling with a female passenger, also aged 51, on the A82 at Firkin Point near Tarbert on Sunday when, at around 1.20pm, his Opel GT car was in collision with a BMW car.

He was rushed by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but died a short time after admission. His passenger was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital. A report on the incident will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal; any witnesses should contact Sergeant Paul MacPherson at Dunoon via 101.
