The awards are held to recognise individuals for their work to encourage inclusivity and diversity in Scotland.

Ms Crawley has been campaigning for equality since her election to Westminster in May 2015, championing the abolition of employment tribunal fees and for inclusive education in schools.

The Lanark and Hamilton East MP also sits on the Women and Equalities Select Committee which has published a report on Transgender Equality in the UK, and is the SNP spokesperson for Equalities, Women and Children.

“To win the award last year was an honour, but to retain the title this year is overwhelming,” said Angela.

“I have worked very hard over the past year to push for equality, influencing the governments of both the UK and Scotland with the work of the Women and Equalities Committee.

“It has also been a very challenging year looking back.

“The Icon Awards ceremony was a wonderful celebration of how far we have come, but it is important to remember that there is a lot more work to do.

“I will continue to work tirelessly for my constituents, campaigning for equality throughout society.”
