WALKING 26 miles is certainly not a cakewalk – but for Lanarkian Lindsay McGauley, taking part in the marathon Kiltwalk was too good an opportunity to turn down.

Lindsay, along with pal Beverly Mcintyre and others, took part in the walk from Hampden Park in Glasgow to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

It was a tough 26 miles but Lindsay definitely enjoyed every step of it.

She said: “In January, Bev, who regularly trains with a local fitness team, was on the statutory coffee run in work and whilst we were trudging up the stairs she suggested to us we should take part in the Kiltwalk.

“We had never heard of it before and if she was comparing it to the stairs to the kettle then we thought it would be easy.

“The weeks went by, the tea was drunk but since half the team had barely walked the length of themselves the challenge was becoming ever more challenging.

“When we set off, it was a fantastic atmosphere and we got talking to so many different people.

“It was raining to begin with but the weather brightened up and we all enjoyed ourselves.”
