Langside Road to remain closed!

Langside Drive on the southside will remain closed for the foreseeable future

Southside Central Councillor, Dr Soryia Siddique, said that she had received numerous complaints from residents over the length of time Scottish Water has had the road closure in place already, with no end in sight.

She said: I am currently working with the local community, roads department and Police Scotland on impact and enforcement of road restrictions and solutions.”

Scottish Water responded: “The upgrades to the network on Queens Drive are considerable. The infrastructure is over 100 years old, and, following the excavation of a shaft and a review of the sewer, the upgrade we had in place needed to be redesigned.

“This decision to redesign was not taken lightly as we are aware of the continued inconvenience an extended closure off Langside Road will cause. “We are liaising with Glasgow City Council and working with our contractor to review the programme and hope to be in a position to update residents and motorists on this in the next 4 weeks.”
