Law Community Trust chairman Jim Wright criticised the alternative hourly 243 service which stops at Carluke, meaning users need to change there to get another bus to Wishaw.

“The alternative is an insult to the people of Law,” Jim said.

Stuarts Coaches operations manager Linda Hughes reiterated on Tuesday that the number 10 run simply “wasn’t viable”.

But a survey by Clydesdale MSP Aileen Campbell found that a whopping 98 per cent of respondents felt that reinstating the service would improve social links with Wishaw.

“I have been overwhelmed by the response,” she said.

Aileen will take up the reinstatement of the number 10 service with the SPT, the transport authority.
