IN a victory for campaigners in Law village, transport authority SPT has announced a new timetable offering three daily bus runs to Wishaw.

The news should be music to the ears of Law Community Trust members who have fought hard for an adequate replacement service for the number 10 run to Wishaw axed in January by Stuarts Coaches amid claims that it was poorly used and unprofitable.

“It is tremendous that Law is getting a new service to Wishaw,” said Trust chairman Jim Wright. “It is an absolutely vital service to the people of Law.”

Although a ‘replacement’ 243 service has been running in recent months, locals had been unhappy that it added six miles to their journeys by stopping at Carluke en route to Wishaw.

So Law-based Councillor Lynsey Hamilton said she was really pleased to hear of the extra bus services from Law to Wishaw, which started operating daily from Monday.

Lynsey said: “These additional services are very welcome. I hope the people of Law use them in good numbers.”
