Lenzie student Stephanie goes for gold '“ and wins a year's free travel with First Glasgow buses

One lucky First Glasgow customer from Lenzie struck gold to win a year's free bus travel.

First Glasgow distributed thousands of leaflets to people in East Dunbartonshire highlighting the benefits of the X85 and X87 Glasgow express services.

One of those leaflets contained a Golden Ticket to free bus travel for a year across the entire First Glasgow network, which was discovered and claimed by Lenzie student, Stephanie Cloughley.

The 21-year-old is currently studying French and the History of Art at the University of Glasgow and regularly uses the X85 & X87 services to travel in and out of the city for her studies.

Stephanie was delighted to discover the Golden Ticket in a leaflet she picked up about the improved services in her local area.

Stephanie said: “Free bus travel, for anyone, is extremely useful but especially for a student.

“I usually take the train, but it’s quite expensive, so being able to use the bus right on my doorstep is very convenient for me. It has also given me the inspiration to see other parts of Glasgow that I might not have thought of visiting otherwise on days off from studying.

“I think it’s a very generous and thoughtful prize. I’m so thankful for it because the X85/X87 is a great service and it’s a nice route going from Lenzie onto the motorway.

“It is so convenient for me to have my bus ticket right here on my phone via the mTicket app and I have shown all of my friends how easy it is to use.”

The bus operator unveiled its new look X85 and X87 express services in the latter months of 2017, which provide people in East Dunbartonshire with fast motorway links to Glasgow City Centre.

It also announced improvements to the services, with an increased evenings and Sundays frequency of 30 minutes between Kirkintilloch and Glasgow City Centre (previously hourly), and a new evening express service to Waterside, Harestanes and Hillhead.
