Let’s hope for a clear night!

Decades before it is due to be seen in our night sky, Halley’s Comet is due to make a comeback.

The comet, so named by astronomer Edmond Halley in 1705, is not expected until 2061. However, residue from the astral body’s tail will be visible as the earth passes through it and the light show will be clearly visible from earth — though on a clear night.

As our planet passes through the cosmic matter, the particles will burn up in a cosmic light show that will produce up to 25 shooting stars every hour.

The display should be viewed around midnight tonight and tomorrow night.

Halley’s Comet is first mentioned as early back as 240BC and there are some who believe it was the star which the three wise men followed at the time of Jesus’ birth.
