Lennoxtown Library will shut at 5pm this Friday (July 19) and reopen at 1pm on Monday, August 12, after work has been carried out inside the premises.

Councillor Stewart MacDonald, chairman of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, said: “There will be no access to the library during the three week period, but members will be able to borrow up to 20 items before the closure ,or they can borrow from other libraries and return to Lennoxtown Library once it reopens.

“I appreciate that this is an inconvenience for regular library users, but the work is necessary to improve services to the local community and will be done as quickly as possible to minimise the impact.”

The services previously offered by the housing office in Main Street will be delivered from the library, just a short distance away.

The move is part of a wider project to build a Community Hub in the heart of the village offering local people one-stop access to a range of council services.
