Lifelong goal for Giffnock author

Now living in Giffnock and working on her third children’s book, the seachange in circumstances gave Emma the chance to grab a few minutes here and there between feeding, nappy-changing and sleepy time to scribble some ideas for a children’s book — a longheld dream that had been burbling away on the back burner of her ambitions for years.

“I’ve always had stories in my head,” said Emma.

“When I was a young girl, I had a story published in The Extra’s sister paper, the Bearsden and Milngavie Herald.

“The Extra also featured my first book,

Now, working on her third book, Emma has no plans to return to her career in the law.

“I think it’s possible to make a living in writing,” said Emma. “Of course, people have to like your books but it’s possible.”

Dexter is a small boy whose idol is a charismatic Spanish footballer.

The story follows the boy’s journey through the football season to the fictional Super League final.

As with all good books, the story hinges on a dilemma whereupon Dexter learns a few of life’s lessons while coming to a difficult but character-defining realisation.
