Lighting up Christmas in Lanark and Carluke

Lanark’s Christmas lights will be switched on on Saturday, November 21, this year, with Carluke’s lights going on a few days later, on Friday November 27.

Lanark will again host the traditional Christmas market, with all sorts of stalls selling Christmassy products, food and drink, and that will run from 9am until 5pm – or until the stalls sell out!

The Christmas festivities will start at 2pm with the official lights switch on at 5pm. Leading this year’s fun will be Clyde One’s Knoxy who will mc the event, which will inlude a Fairytale Show with special appearances from a range of princesses.

Local dance and theatre groups have also been invited to attend, and there will be festive sing-alongs and a special appearance from the one and only Santa Claus.

Snow is also guaranteed – as the switch on will trigger a flurry of fake flakes from above.

On Friday, November 27, it will be Carluke’s turn, with the festivities at Rankin Gait.

These start at 3pm with the official lights switch on at 6pm. Clyde One’s Gina McKie will be leading the fun at Carluke, and that will also feature a Fairytale Show with a host of princesses, and the guest appearance by Santa Claus to help switch on the lights.
