With the deadline for entries set as midnight on September 28, budding amateur photographers are invited to enter the competition capturing photographs that showcase the local features and attractions that are quintessentially or iconically Pollokshields.

Entries can include one of the lovely parks, Burgh Hall, local architecture, or even the vibrant café scene – in fact anything that captures the local charm and history of the area.

Three lucky winners will receive a £150 worth of vouchers from a trio of local Pollokshields businesses which will include a £50 Ollie’s restaurant voucher, a £50 Marie Brown at Home voucher, and a £50 Moyra Jayne’s Brasserie voucher.

Lorraine Paterson, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone in Scotland, said: “We’ve already had a great response to our photography competition and the standard of the entries that we have received is really impressive. This competition is an opportunity to see Pollokshields through the eyes of those who know it best – its local residents – and we hope that people are enjoying this opportunity to share their pictures with us. We will announce the three winners following the closing date.”

Each of the three winning photographs will also be displayed in Merchants Gate for future McCarthy and Stone homeowners to enjoy.

Those wishing to take part should email their photos and contact details to [email protected], or post to Merchants Gate/Pollokshields Photography Competition, C/O McCann PR, Communications House, Highlands Road, Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands, B90 4WE.
