Lottery money helps Lanark Gymnasts stage festival

A LOCAL group has been awarded a £1979 grant to help it run a three-day event at Lanark Market from March 8 to 10 bringing together 400 gymnasts from around the UK and Ireland.

Lanark Gymnastics Display Team landed the windfall as part on an overall £10,000 Big Lottery Fund package, shared with four Clydesdale schools.

“We are extremely grateful for this grant,” said the Display Team’s Yvonne Gray.

“Without it this gymnastics festival wouldn’t have happened.”

The Big Lottery award will fund the hire of sprung flooring (£1529) and venue hire for three days (£450), at an event featuring 17 clubs.
