Lotto pays out to local groups

THOUSANDS of pounds has been injected into several local groups thanks to the Big Lottery Fund.

During the latest rounds of grants, I Am Bikes Limited in Cumbernauld received £9,996 to start up their business.

The organisation will provide a bicycle refurbishment workshop.

Outdoor play at Kildrum Nursery Centre is set to get a lot better after they received £9,947.

The nursery will use the funding to purchase outdoor play equipment which will encourage children who attend the centre to engage in active play.

Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, which is based in Wishaw but serves the whole county, received £8,975 for IT equipment, training and volunteer team building.

Motherwell-based North Lanarkshire Disability Forum funds were boosted by £3,362.

The forum, who serve the whole county, will hold outreach clinics to assist those with a disability and their carers to fill out forms associated with benefits.

They will also help people when they need to attend appointments.

A cyber coach system will be purchased by Eastfield Primary School who received £7,305.

The equipment will be used by pupils and members of the local community to improve their fitness levels.

And Moodiesburn based Foram Lannraig A Tuath got £9,250.

This group will engage with a range of community groups to consult/obtain views on the development of a local Gaelic Hub in North Lanarkshire.

This would provide a cohesive place for people to meet, learn and be creative.
