Whether it’s their age, breed or colour, some of the dogs at the Glasgow Rehoming Centre will be overlooked, often baffling staff.

Dogs just like Harvey, a six- year-old German Shephard who wants nothing more than to find his Belle of the ball.

At Dogs Trust, each dog is matched with a canine carer who they feel most comfortable around and this person is referred to as their ‘special friend’.

In Harvey’s case this person is canine carer Tara Green, as the two instantly struck up a bond when he first became a resident at the rehoming centre.

Tara said: “Harvey is such a good dog and will make a great companion for the right family. He loves being around people and will play for hours. Harvey adores attention and companionship so an owner who is around for the majority of the day will be the perfect match for him. I’d love to see Harvey find his forever home even though it will be bittersweet as we have such a special bond.”

Sandra Lawton, Rehoming Centre manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said: “It’s important that potential dog owners remember that a dog’s personality is what makes them a good family pet, not just what they look like.

“Harvey is a gentle soul who just needs someone to give him the opportunity to experience family life again and spend time training and helping him adjust to his new surroundings.”

In true Beauty and the Beast style, will you give Harvey a home before the last rose petal falls and let him become the prince he was always meant to be?
