Man arrested for alleged laser attack on helicopter

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and detained in connection with an alleged laser attack on a police helicopter.

The incident allegedly took place at around 9.50pm on Monday, September 5, from Trafalgar Street in Clydebank.

Area Commander, Chief Inspector Donald Leitch said: “Shining a laser pen at an aircraft is incredibly dangerous and totally unacceptable.

“It can dazzle and distract the crew, and it can even cause temporary blindness. It is an offence we take extremely seriously and people need to realise the dangers of this reckless behaviour.

“Our message is clear, use them and you will be arrested.”
