Man assaulted and robbed in park on his way to work

A man was assault and robbed in Luggie Park, Kirkintilloch as he made his way to work on Monday morning.

A 38-year-old man was approached by another male as he made his way through the park around 8.35am on August 15.

The latter demanded he hand over his mobile phone and personal property. A struggle ensued and the victim struck his attacker in defence.

The thief ran off, but was chased by the 38 year-old man who successfully recovered his stolen phone after his assailant dropped it.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20’s. He is of being medium height and medium build and was wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Detective Constable Alan Evans from the Community Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “A man was attacked and robbed as he made his way to work.

“We are continuing our inquiries to trace the person responsible.

“Officers have searched the area and are continuing to assess CCTV to see if there are any images of the suspect in the proximity of the park.

“We know this a popular route and many residents will be concerned to learn that someone was robbed at this time of day.

We do understand that this is an isolated incident.

“At this time, we are seeking the assistance of the public to trace person responsible. If you witnessed anything suspicious around the time of the incident we would ask that you get in contact.
