Man in dockover heroin worth £23k

Stephen Super and another man were in the kitchen weighing a bag of brown powder when police arrived, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard.

Super (53) admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug in Glencairn Avenue on February 3.

The court heard that he had walked free from court in November with a community payback order after admitting a similar charge.

Lauren McRobert, prosecuting, said the other man in the house claimed he had gone there to buy drugs.

Officers then carried out a full search. Super was sitting on a living room sofa and he was seen to remove something from the pocket of his tracksuit trousers. It was a bag containing a quarter kilo of heroin. Other, smaller bags were also found in the house.

Police also recovered £260 from Super. Digital scales in the kitchen were switched on and were stained with heroin.

Super denied being a drug dealer. He told officers the biggest bag of heroin had been delivered to his house that day, but refused to say by whom.

Defence agent John McCafferty suggested background reports would be helpful before sentence is passed.

Sheriff Ray Small told Super, who has been in custody since his arrest: “You pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug shortly after you were placed on a community payback order for a similar type of offence. It’s very likely you will receive a custodial sentence.”

Sentence was deferred until May 25.
