Man seriously injured in car accident

A 65-year-old man was seriously injured after being knocked down in Netherton yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

Around 11.15am the man was crossing Netherton Road when he was struck by a Citroen Xsara Picasso.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

The driver and passenger within the Citroen were uninjured, but shaken as a result of the incident

The road was closed for approximately two hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.

Officers from Motherwell Road Policing Unit are appealing for any witnesses to the crash or to anyone who may have any information to contact them on 101.
