Maurice (16) wins prestigious award

Turnbull High School pupil Maurice McDowall has been presented with the Peter Buchanan Award for Personal Endeavour.

Maurice (16) was nominated for the award by Tam James, project development worker at Positive Achievements, for his personal endeavour over the past two years.

The Peter Buchanan Award for Personal Endeavour was established in 2012 in recognition of Peter Buchanan, a project officer for the positive Alternatives Project, who died unexpectedly in 2011.

Convener of education, Councillor Eric Gotts presented awards to Maurice and runner-up Daniel Nash (17) from Kirkintilloch High School.

Recognition of Endeavour awards were also presented to Annabelle Carr (19), a former pupil at Kirkintilloch High, Ryan Morran (15), from Woodhead School, and Caillan Gallacher (18) a former pupil at St Ninian’s High.
