Mayfest set to swing into town with a packed bill

This year the popular '˜G66+live' Campsie Mayfest event, taking place in Milton of Campsie Village Hall, runs from May 9-15.

It’s part of the Scotland Voluntary Arts Week and is supported by East Dunbartonshire Arts Council.

The nine-event packed programme of art and music has all been organised - and everything (other than the two evening concerts) is completely free.

Things kick-off on Monday, May 9, at 10am with a Campsie Walk followed by music and coffee at the village’s former train station.

On Wednesday, May 11, at 7.30pm, there will be a painting demonstration at the hall.

Friday, May 13, sees the art exhibition opening with a special reception from 6pm, followed by a cool and jazzy performance by the Factor Forte band at 7.30pm.

A craft sale takes place on Saturday, May 14, from 2-4pm and local young folk will be entertaining the crowds with music on stage from 2.30pm (call 01360 311944 to get involved), followed by a a performance from wind/recorder band Arcara at 7.30pm.

The final day, on Sunday, May 15, gets underway at 10.30am with an art workshop for children aged 10-16. Book up now on 0141 775 1879.

It will be followed by two jazz bands (trad and swing) taking to the stage from 2pm.

The Art Exhibition/Sale runs all weekend except Saturday morning with refreshments at all times.

Concert tickets are priced at £5 and are available at the door or from Milton of Campsie Pharmacy after May 1.
