Maz’s legacy lives on in chemo cookbook

A southsider who lost her life to cancer last year has been remembered in a new cookbook for people undergoing cancer treatment.

Maz Carruthers, from Govanhill, spent her last weeks giving ideas for author/chef Penny Ericson’s Around the Kitchen Table.

Maz (35) was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2011, and sadly passed away last summer following months in hospital.

Gillian Hailstones, centre head at Maggie’s Glasgow, said: “Maz was an inspiration — she quite literally brought so much to the table in terms of life and laughter. I know she would be delighted to know friends and family were at Maggie’s Gartnavel to celebrate her contribution.”

The free cookbook has over 50 recipes designed to help with the symptoms of cancer treatment, and is available at Maggie’s centres or online at www.chemocookeryclub.com.
