Medals all round for sporty Commonwealth kids

More than 150 children from across East Ren have been recognised for their efforts in sports.

A total of 154 took part in the Commonwealth Games Passport scheme this summer, and all were presented with medals and certificates at a recent ceremony at Eastwood Park Theatre.

The youngsters and their proud families were congratulated by Team Scotland athletes including mountain biker Kerry MacPhee, gymnast Amy Regan and rugby sevens star Mark Bennett.

Councillor Mary Montague said: “Having the Commonwealth Games on our doorstep has left us with a fantastic legacy that I’m sure will stay with them for a long time to come.”
