Milestone birthday celebrations for Mary

Many happy returns to Netherlee resident Mary Davidson, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a host of special guests.

Mrs Davidson has lived at Linnpark Court for 10 years, and was joined by family, fellow residents and staff for a milestone birthday party at the council-run sheltered housing complex.

The mother-of-three now has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mary was born in Glasgow, and first worked as a tailoress before starting a family.

She later took up a cleaning supervisor role at Glasgow University, where she worked until her retirement.

Mary was presented with her speicial telegram from the queen and congratulated by East Renfrewshire provost Alastair Carmichael, vice lord-lieutenant Susie Stewart and Netherlee councillor Ralph Robertson.

Provost Carmichael said: “I was delighted to be able to join everyone at Linnpark to help Mary celebrate such a special birthday.

“It is an amazing achievement to reach 100 years.

“Many congratulations to Mary from everyone at East Renfrewshire Council.”

Sandra Scott, of the council’s housing team, added: “It was a really lovely occasion.

“Mary is fabulous for her years and really enjoyed the little party.

“It was so nice to be able to join her in celebrating her birthday.”
