Giffnock resident Ursula Maung celebrates a milestone birthday this week surrounded by family.

Mrs Maung — known as Oma and a grandmother of five and great grandmother of four — turns 90 on August 11, and will celebrate at her home in Barrland Court, where she moved from Clarkston a few months ago.

Born in Germany in 1924, Ursula was evacuated to Scotland via the Kindertransport and later separated from her younger sister.

By 18, she was driving trams around Glasgow, where she met her husband Eddie and settled down to have two children.

Granddaughter Stephanie told The Extra: “We want to congratulate her on reaching 90, to show how much of an inspirational lady she is and how much she is loved by us all.”
