Milestone celebrations sought for royal telegram

RESIDENTS of East Renfrewshire are being urged to share their family milestones so that they receive a telegram from the queen.

Congratulations messages are presented to those celebrating their 100th birthday, 105th birthday then each year afterwards — as well as couples marking a diamond (60 years) and platinum (70) anniversary and up.

Telegrams are presented by lord lieutenant Guy Clark, who said: “I would urge everyone with a family member about to celebrate such an event to get in touch.

“It’s wonderful to reach such a significant birthday or anniversary and it is fitting that it is marked — I have seen first hand the delight it brings to people.”
