Milton of Campsie Community Council have now added the garden and bench - which remembers him as a man “who gave a lifetime of services to our village and community”.

Friends and family joined together for a recent dedication ceremony at the Village Cross.

A spokesperson for the community council said: “The selection of this memorial was the end result of consultation with the residents within the village who believed that something of the substantial nature of marble reflected the standing that Charles had within the community.

“We would like to thank the many local businesses who have helped complete the area, including Caulders Garden Centre, GD McFall, Under Pressure, Anderson McMillan Memorials and Scott Ferguson.”
