Ministers call in Hyndford Quarry plans

SCOTTISH Ministers are calling in the plans for the proposed extension to Hyndford Quarry, at New Lanark.

The plans, which have attracted thousands of objections from those concerned about the setting of the World Heritage Village, were approved by South Lanarkshire Council at the end of last year.

This afternoon it has been announced that Planning Minister Derek Mackay has called in the application.

A Reporter will now be appointed to examine the plans, submitted by Cemex, and ministers will take the final decision on whether planning permission should be granted.
