Missing teenager found safe and well

A teenager from Clarkston who went missing on Monday night has been found following a public appeal.

Police raised concern about Niamh Cockton (15) after she dissapeared from her Williamwood Drive home.

The teenager, who attends St Ninian’s High school, was reported missing after her parents checked her room on Monday evening.

Following an appeal for help in finding the teenager, Police Scotland said she had been traced, and was found at 4pm on Tuesday afternoon in Govanhill.

Inspector Alan Dickson told The Extra: “Thankfully, our officers found her safe and well. We are delighted with that outcome.

“A member of the public had assisted her and as a result we were able to trace her. She was returned to her parents in good health and they were overjoyed.”

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist who died after crashing his bike on the Isle of Skye has been named by police.

Alexander Kenneth Brown was riding along the A87 near Loch Ainort when he lost control of the vehicle.

Emergency services were called shortly after 9.30am on Sunday.

However, the 33-year-old, from Shawlands, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that the male motorcyclist who died on the A87 at Drumnacloch on Sunday can now be named as Alexander Kenneth Brown.

“A road traffic collision investigation has been carried out and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
