Morale of police workers ‘badly damaged’

MORALE amongst civilian staff working for the police is being badly damaged by Scottish Government policies claimed Clydesdale’s Liberal Democrat regional MSP Jim Hume this week.

Following the closure of the public counters at police stations in Carluke, Biggar and Lesmahagow – which he campaigned against – the government is now also closing several regional control centres.

This, he said, had resulted in a “significant breakdown” in relations between Police Scotland and its civilian staff, resulting in a strike ballot being called by their union, Unison.
