More people sign up for East Dunbartonshire budget workshops

Last week saw a further two budget workshops take place as part of East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC)’s Your Services, Your Choices consultation exercise.

People have been asked to help the authority decide where savings need to be made from EDC’s budget.

Awareness of the consultation has been raised on the council website, social media and through Street Meets throughout the area. An online

To date almost 200 proposed budgets have been submitted and more than 100 people have booked to attend ‘budget workshops’.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said is encouraged by participation levels to date.

She said: “Our consultation has been designed to reach as many people as possible and to find out where people feel further cuts can be made as well as to raise awareness of how difficult the next savings we have to make will be.

“It is a really challenging position we face and we want to hear as many views as possible and make people aware that an impact on frontline services is now inevitable.”
