M&S hosting World's Biggest Coffee Morning

A collaboration now in its seventh year, M&S Cafés nationwide will support the charity by hosting a coffee morning on Friday, September 30 to celebrate the popular initiative, and they are calling on customers to join in and do their bit too.

Additional fundraising activities will also take place in stores throughout the country across September.

From September 1 M&S shoppers will be able to enjoy a whole host of tasty treats on sale in M&S Foodhalls with 10 per cent of each sale going to Macmillan. All M&S Cafés will also be donating 5p from every cup of coffee and slice of cake sold throughout September to Macmillan Cancer Support.

An array of gorgeous, limited edition home products will also be available in the majority of M&S homeware departments with 10 per cent of each sale going to the charity.

Two and a half million people are living with cancer in the UK today, a number that is set to rise to four million by 2030.

M&S has supported World’s Biggest Coffee Morning since 2010 and during this time the retailer has raised over £6 million for Macmillan.

The money raised by M&S helps to support people affected by cancer as well as fund vital posts in local communities, right across the UK. Last year, 26 Macmillan professional posts were funded.

Sam Nugent, store manager at M&S Bearsden, said: “Macmillan is a charity that’s close to the hearts of many of our customers and colleagues which is why we’re determined to make this year’s event our most successful yet.

“World’s Biggest Coffee Morning provides the perfect opportunity to get your friends and family together to enjoy a coffee, a cake and a catch-up for what is a very worthy cause.

“If you aren’t hosting your own coffee morning then we’d love to see you join us in-store on September 30 to help us raise funds. We will also have Macmillan-themed goods on sale throughout September, so you can still do your bit even if you only have a short amount of time to pop into store.

“We also have eight members of staff running in the “Great Scottish Run” in Glasgow in October to help add to the funds we raise in-store!”
