MSP hails Canal Festival a great success

Kirkintilloch Canal Festival has been hailed as an iconic event by the town's MSP.

Rona Mackay praised the event’s organisers and said the festival is “very important” to Kirkintilloch.

The SNP MSP said: “It’s great to see the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival was such a success, as it is incredibly important to the town’s culture and economy.

“Well done to the organisers for making the programme of events run so well. It was great to see so many locals and visitors out and about enjoying themselves despite the disappointing weather.

“The festival is iconic and marks Kirkintilloch’s history on the watercourse very well – proving how the town really is the Canal Capital of Scotland.”
