Scottish Conservative politician Maurice Golden says residents are worried that there could be an increased risk of floods in the area and traffic congestion if the development gets the green light.

The developers, McCarthy & Stone, have proposed to build a total of 61 properties; 49 retirement properties and 12 affordable homes for over 55s.

Their development plans are currently under review by the East Dunbartonshire Council.

Mr Golden said: “McCarthy & Stone have assured me that they have conducted an exhaustive assessment of the plans and that these risks will be minimal.

“The area to be built on has been prone to flooding in the past, but SEPA have signed off on developing the site.

“An area adjacent to the site that was considered for development will not be developed because there is a higher risk of flooding attached to it.”

Mr Golden is scheduled to meet with East Dunbartonshire Council’s chief executive to further discuss local concerns and raise the possibility of installing a bus stop.
