MSP’s pledgeon broadbandfor Carluke

The Gazette has received complaints from residents in Mosside Avenue and other residential streets in the town about persistent breakdowns in their broadband service.

The rolling out of rural superfast broadband has long been an aspiration of the Scottish Government, of which Clydesdale MSP Aileen Campbell is a member.

In response to the complaints, she said: “Efficient, reliable broadband is a necessity in today’s modern world. I am committed to ensuring that Clydesdale residents receive the best deal from providers. I have met with BT and remain in regular contact with them and other broadband providers.

Whilst improvements have been made to much of Clydesdale’s broadband service, there is clearly a lot of work still to do and I will continue to work to ensure that Clydesdale has a service fit for the 21st century.

This may take time and will mean that for some people and places the individual circumstances will have an impact on connection speeds and capacity. The rollout by the Scottish Government is already improving the lives of many constituents and I keep in regular contact with Digital Scotland, the body responsible for the rollout, to ensure that as connectivity across Scotland improves, Clydesdale residents also get an improved service.”
