Nan Henderson celebrates 100th - Lanarkians invited!

IT’S not every birthday party to which a whole TOWN gets an invitation but the one taking place in Lanark on Sunday, April 13, is, after all, for one very special citizen.

The celebrations will surround the milestone of it being exactly 100 years to the day when Nan Henderson (nee Robertson) was born in the Royal Burgh.

It’s a town in which she went on to be one of its most popular and well-respected figures during a long and varied life that ranged from being a fashion model to a super-soup-saleswoman!

Now her 100th birthday has arrived and the family want all friends of Lanark’s Grand Old Lady to celebrate with them at St Mary’s Clubrooms on Sunday, April 13 from 2.30pm onwards.

Said a relative: “Everyone in Lanark knows our Nan.”

So, if you know “our Nan”, why not go along and toast this special centenarian? And to find out more about Nan’s amazing life story, see the full interview in this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is out now.
