The village’s Jim Hamilton Heritage Society is celebrating its 10th anniversary and members have been looking forward to showcasing some of the many photographs and stories from its vast archive.

Everything from the village’s rich mining heritage, its war heroes from both World Wars and its pipe and silver bands is included, not to mention Coalburn Gala Days and sports sides from down the years.

Society chairman Peter McLeish said: “We have tried to make sure that there is something for everyone. We think people will enjoy it.

“We usually have an exhibition on Coalburn Gala Day every year but this year we thought that this additional exhibition would work well.”

Many of the photographs and archives the Society has are down to the man which it is named after.

For more than 30 years, Jim Hamilton recorded a social history of Coalburn amassing an unbelievable collection of photographs and documents.

Many of these were reproduced in The Coalburn Chronicles.
