The new school will be built on the site of the existing Lenzie Moss Primary, which will also replace the current Lenzie Primary.

The new school is part of the council’s Primary School Improvement Programme, which recently saw the opening of Lairsdland Primary School’s new campus in Kirkintilloch.

Gordon Currie, director of education and children’s services, said: “The final design for the new primary school has been shaped following widespread consultation with pupils, parents, school staff and the local community over the last year.

“I would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to have a look at the new school proposal and if anyone wants to make comments, these should be submitted to the Planning Service before the determination of the planning application.”

The design is based on the new Lairdsland Primary School, which opened last month, and has also been adopted as the reference design for new schools across Scotland by the Scottish Government.

Other local primary schools across East Dunbartonshire are also involved with the programme, including Woodhill, Auchinairn, St Agatha’s, St Flannan’s, St Joseph’s and St Andrew’s.

The planning application will be considered by East Dunbartonshire Council’s planning department and then referred to the Planning Board for a decision.

All comments will be taken on board and anyone who would like to see the application in person can do so at Southbank House, in Kirkintilloch’s Southbank Marina, from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

A planning officer will be on duty there from 10am until 1pm and will be available to answer questions.

The application is online at www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk and can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Primary School Estate’ section on the home page.
