First Glasgow recently pulled the plug on the N36 service to Moodiesburn because it was “financially unsustainable”.

Strathkelvin councillor Frances McGlinchey said: “A number of people used the bus to get backwards and forwards to work in the catering industry and for entertainment. Everyone is feeling the pinch and to pay a taxi fare is a lot of money.”

A First Glasgow spokesperson said: “Unfortunately service N36 was financially unsustainable and was therefore withdrawn in May.”

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport said the existing service levels within Moodiesburn satisfy the levels required by SPT’s guideline criteria.
