Not such a horror show for little Rocky

The Giffnock and district branch of Cats Protection hosts a Halloween disco at Eastwood House this month in the hope of funding a new incubator for kittens in need.

The fundraising drive was inspired by rescue kitten Rocky and his mum Rosie.

Co-ordinator Karen Minnery told The Extra: “Rosie gave birth to Rocky and another kitten two weeks prematurely.

“Luckily, someone discovered them and took them to a vet, who phoned us — unfortunately, when I took them home, Rosie rejected him and Rocky became colder and colder, so the only thing to do was take him to our own Rouken Glen Vets.

“They put him in an incubator for a few days and it’s the only reason he survived.

“It’s so nice to see him grow up to be a healthy, four-month old kitten — Rocky and Rosie have just been adopted, and we thought that after all they had been through, we should keep them together.

“We could help so many more kittens if we had an incubator of our own, and that’s what the fundraiser is all about.”

Karen promises good spooky fun for the group’s annual Halloween event, this year featuring a tombola and public and private readings from medium L’yren.

The fun kicks off at 7pm on October 31 and tickets are £10 — all proceeds towards the £600 cost of an
incubator.
