Olivia could take the Miss Scotland crown

A former St Ninian’s High School pupil has her heart set on becoming the next Miss Scotland after making it to the final ten of the competition.

Olivia McPike (17) won over the judges and was selected from hundreds of applicants to secure a spot in the final.

She said: “I’m really excited for the future because Miss Scotland could open up doors. I’m just going to take every opportunity I can get and take life as it comes.”

Olivia, who works at the Benefit make-up counter in the House of Fraser, had to apply online and was delighted to receive a text message inviting her to the semi-finals.

She said: “It was raining and windy and I had to run from the House of Fraser up to the Metropolitan and when I got there I had mascara running down my face. I looked awful and I just had to tell them sorry, I’m on my lunch break.

“But I must have made some sort of impression!”

Before following her dream to work in the make-up industry, she worked at Cafe Mariana in Kirkintilloch with her mum and brother.

The winner of Miss Scotland will go to China to take part in Miss World and although all of the finalists would like to win, she said they are all “grateful to get this far”.
